Dear Johnny Dare Morning Show,
My husband is an area police officer and was able to work extra “off duty” jobs to keep us afloat; however, he injured his right hand in September this year while making an arrest. Since the injury, he has had surgery, so he is limited to light duty…meaning desk work only. Also because of the injury, he’s not allowed to work any off duty jobs, so our life preserver and all of his extra hours have ended.
Financially, it has put us in a bind. Family has helped, but they can’t keep doing it. Previously, I’ve had my water, electricity, and phone service shut off at different times. It just seems that we cannot get ahead. I had to take out a Payday loan to help us cover things, and now I can’t pay the loan off.
I have two children and I really feel like I’ve let them down. My son is insulin resistant and needs to be on a special diet. He really shouldn’t have a lot of carbohydrates, but we’re low on food at times and macaroni and cheese is cheap.
Johnny I’ve never had to ask for anything. I wasn’t even able to buy them back to school clothes this year, and my son, who is 14, is still wearing shorts to school, because he outgrew his jeans from last year. And my daughter is wearing jeans that are covered in holes.
Things just keep piling up, and I just keep putting things on the back burner. I promise when our luck turns around, I will be calling in to donate to someone else who needs a hand up.
Merry Christmas,
Tammi
